Ulysses
Ulysses is a writing app designed for anyone who writes regularly, making it a perfect tool for bloggers, novelists, and journalists alike. Its clean and distraction-free interface promotes focus and productivity, allowing writers to concentrate fully on crafting their content.
Ulysses is known for its organisational capabilities, where you can manage all your writing projects from one place—whether it’s blog posts, books, or reports.
It also offers features like goal setting, automatic backups, and synchronisation across all devices, ensuring your work is safe and accessible anywhere you go.
The only downside is that it’s only compatible with Apple products. Notion would be one alternative for Windows.
Descript
Descript is a powerful multimedia editing tool that transcends traditional boundaries by offering capabilities for video and podcast editing through an intuitive, text-based interface.
This innovative approach allows users to edit audio and video content as easily as editing a text document. In other words, you can delete text, and it’ll actually cut that part of the clip.
Descript is particularly useful for content creators focused on producing podcasts, video tutorials, or engaging multimedia content for social media.
Its other features include automatic transcription, screen recording, and an Overdub feature that lets you correct spoken words by simply typing.
Canva
Canva is a user-friendly graphic design tool that empowers marketers, bloggers, and businesses to create stunning visual content without the need for advanced design skills.

Opus
Opus Clip is an innovative AI-powered tool designed to streamline the video creation process, making it simpler and faster for marketers and content creators to produce high-quality videos.
Here’s how it works:
- You upload a long form video, like a podcast for example
- Opus automatically cuts the long form video into ten pieces of short video content, each with engaging captions and in portrait format
- You can then edit each short video within the platform similarly to the text based editing feature that DeScript utilises
On top of this, Opus also allows you to caption videos automatically. You simply upload the video, select the language, the style of captions, and bang, you’re done.
Keep in mind sometimes it takes a bit of time (like 5 minutes) for Opus to do this, but it saves you hours.
Here’s an example of a short video Opus produced from a podcast I uploaded:
There’s obviously a watermark in that video, but you can remove that once you have a subscription to the software.
There’s also new features that Opus has brought out, which you can check out here.
