The moment HubSpot became an interesting proposition you’ve likely asked yourself how much does HubSpot really cost? Probably closely followed by the question: Wow, is the price of this thing worth it?
It’s a common question we’re asked irrespective of business size or marketing maturity. Whether you’re a newbie or mature marketing maven, $1,000+ per month is a sizeable cost.
Provided you have a solid strategy, understand your personas and have a commitment to consistent and helpful content, HubSpot is a powerful assortment of tools in one that can become profitable within 6 months whilst saving you the head count of hiring additional people.
Just to clarify, this article doesn’t cover HubSpot CRM, which is free, and HubSpot Sales Pricing. These are separate products but integrate perfectly with the HubSpot Marketing product.
Let’s first look at the retail rack rate according to the HubSpot website:

Updated 06/03/2024: HubSpot’s onboarding for Professional is $4,320 and Enterprise is now $10,080 if you purchase through HubSpot.
In short, HubSpot Marketing now has a free package and 3 paid packages with the following monthly fee:
A very quick review of HubSpot Free & Starter
HubSpot have recently made a number of changes to their marketing suite including killing off the ‘Basic’ package and enhancing their ‘Free’ and ‘Starter’ packages.
The Free package is a great option for start-up businesses with little budget but a strong desire to understand the power of more advanced marketing tools. The beauty of starting with Free is as more budget becomes available, it is easy to scale to the markedly more powerful paid versions of HubSpot Marketing.
Before we go any further, let’s eliminate HubSpot Free & Starter from the discussion of true “marketing automation”. The reason HubSpot Free & Starter have such a significant price difference to HubSpot Professional is because they aren’t really marketing automation platforms.
You do not get the 24/7 support Professional & Enterprise users have access to either.
It’s not until you invest in HubSpot Professional that you really start to experience the full glory HubSpot has to offer. In Professional, a company can blog, create landing pages, use the SEO/Content tools, CTAs, custom reporting, create automated nurturing campaigns and much more.
Free & Starter are great options for a solopreneur type business looking to get insight into contact activity (e.g what pages Persona Terry visits), but anything slightly more advanced than email marketing will leave you wanting more.
As an alternative to HubSpot Starter, if that’s the budget you’re currently confined to, you’re better off using a combination of MailChimp for emails, Unbounce for landing pages, Sumo for lead capture and Hootsuite for social media.
Alternatively, a marketing automation suite we have been recommending for clients where HubSpot exceeds budget is Ontraport or Active Campaign.
As marketing automation specialists, RedPandas only work with HubSpot Professional and HubSpot Enterprise.
There was a recent update (May 2024) that HubSpot made to it’s Marketing Hub Packages. In the past, Marketing Hub included Landing Page features and Blogging features. However, with the introduction of the new HubSpot Content Hub, those features have moved over to that Hub. To purchase Content Hub separately, you’d be looking at:
However, if you’re already purchasing Marketing Hub, you have the option to opt for a new package called Marketing+, which includes both Marketing Hub features and core Content Hub features, and works out to be far cheaper than purchasing the hubs separately.
Here’s what the Marketing+ Package includes:

It’s important to be prepared to invest the 12-month cost of HubSpot as well as the cost of creating the content to service your shiny new system.
Also, what’s important to consider is the number of contacts in your HubSpot database.
It’s important to be prepared to invest the 12-month cost of HubSpot as well as the cost of creating the content to service your shiny new system.
Also, what’s important to consider is the number of contacts in your HubSpot database.
True, HubSpot Professional starts at $1,150 a month, but that’s for 2,000 contacts. The difference between 2,000 and 7,000 contacts on the same version of Professional is $338.
HubSpot now sells you contacts in increments of 5,000. Each additional 5000 contacts adds $338 onto your monthly costs.
We’ve created this handy excel calculator so you can see the month 1 onboarding cost, the ongoing cost and the 12 month investment cost of HubSpot Professional vs HubSpot Enterprise according to the size of your database:
Each time you give a team member access to your HubSpot portal, you are assigning them a seat (one user = one seat). If users have not been assigned a seat, they will not have access to paid subscription features. Each plan includes a minimum number of core seats, and if additional seats are needed, this incurs an additional cost depending on the plan. The only exception is with the Free plan, which does not allow you to have any core seats but does allow you to assign up to 5 users to the plan. However, since these are not core seats, these users only have access to the limited features available on the free plan. Let’s take a quick look at included core seats and additional costs incurred for each seat added:
Let’s first look at the features common to both HubSpot Professional and Enterprise:
*The orange tick means you get it, but the underline means you have limitations. E.g. Custom reporting you are limited to only 20 marketing reports
Professional is where HubSpot really starts kicking butt and you have the tools to be a modern marketer in 2024.
First and foremost, marketing automation is introduced in Professional Marketing Automation moves beyond manual MailChimp-style emails and allows you to create automated workflows based on how hot or cold your leads are.
For example, a user who has visited your website 8 times, visited the pricing page 4 times, downloaded an eBook and watched a video is a lot warmer than someone who just downloaded an eBook.
The former is ripe to be sent an automated, personalised email as well as being contacted by your sales team.
This is just one of the smarts marketing automation allows you to do.
Professional also unlocks smart content which allows you to customise and personalise content on a landing page for instance, with call-to-actions, text and forms.
Typically, the jump to Enterprise is made when clients start topping the 10,000 contact mark.
We really get excited on Enterprise accounts as it usually means clients who are already somewhat familiar with marketing automation are ready to move to the next level of marketing and growth.
One of our favourite features here is predictive lead scoring which works on finding trends in behaviour of your best leads to predict leads that have a high probability of converting.
Apart from organisations with large databases, the enterprise plan is best for companies:
HubSpot is a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and generally charge the onboarding fee upfront with annual or monthly terms.
Your HubSpot fees are paid directly to HubSpot, not to RedPandas.
Like all HubSpot partners, RedPandas receive a 20% commission on your monthly subscription fee. Unlike some partners however, we’re considerably more transparent about this and credit back substantial amounts including the onboarding fee for retainer clients.
This offers our clients substantial savings and the added value of a more ‘hand-holding’ support setup than HubSpot that is time bound and finite.
Although HubSpot’s fee structure is by and large fixed, as partners we’re able to offer additional value added benefits and services.
In addition to the core HubSpot Marketing platform, there are a number of add-ons available.
Whether you need these or not can be really confusing and generally, for most new clients we don’t recommend add-ons until at least month 6 or 7.
Contact us at RedPandas to see whether these add-ons make commercial sense for your business.
HubSpot Add-ons:
You may have noticed the HubSpot onboarding cost referenced above. HubSpot’s onboarding for Professional is $4,320 and Enterprise is now $10,080 if you purchase through HubSpot.
Although HubSpot Marketing Professional onboarding via HubSpot has some value, we generally do not recommend Enterprise companies purchase onboarding through HubSpot directly unless it is a basic scope and you have done it before. In our 10 years experience, we found, generally the support that HubSpot Enterprise customers need is more than what software specialists can deliver.
HubSpot is an incredible tool with hundreds of features, applications and integrations BUT it can be overwhelming if it is your first time using it.
That’s why HubSpot make it mandatory to purchase onboarding for it’s main suite, either directly through HubSpot or through a Diamond HubSpot agency like RedPandas.
Having someone who has done it before is really important as it impacts so many areas of your business and the last thing you want is to start off on the wrong foot and turn HubSpot into a gloried address book.
